Kevin Harvick is in a tricky spot right now. Heading into the final race of this round of playoffs in his final season in NASCAR, he is in a position where he could be eliminated on Saturday night as he is just one spot above the cutline. But does that mean he is nervous? Is the prospect of being eliminated from the championship contention in his final season has Harvick worried?

The short answer is no, and this is something Harvick elaborated on during the media session ahead of the make-or-break Bristol race.

Kevin Harvick isn’t feeling the nerves ahead of crunch playoff race

Ahead of this round’s final playoff race, Harvick was questioned whether he was ‘nervous or worried’ about where he stands currently. He is currently in the 12th spot with fine margins of distance from drivers around him.

Harvick currently has a +7 margin, and below him is regular-season champion Martin Truex Jr. with -7, Bubba Wallace with -19, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. with -22, and Michael McDowell with -40.

But the margins above him aren’t that high either as Joey Logano sits above him with +12, Christopher Bell and Chris Buescher both with +13, and Ross Chastain with +18.

“No, not at all,” he replied. “It is what it is.”

He explained, “You go race as hard as you can and where it falls, it falls. It’s like Martin’s situation last year. There’s nothing you can do about some things, and I don’t worry about those things anymore.”

Harvick calls out the ‘keyboard warriors’ about the ‘checked out’ notion

With this being Kevin Harvick’s final season in NASCAR and him being so close to getting eliminated from the championship contention, there are a few who wonder if the veteran has already ‘checked out’. But Harvick disagrees with that theory.

“Those are the ignorant people that are keyboard warriors,” he answered when confronted with the idea of him checking out.

Harvick claimed that those with that mentality weren’t watching him towards the end of Daytona last month or when he led the race at Darlington. “If they can’t answer that question. That’s a pretty simple question. They are people who just like to type,” he added.

The veteran’s response should shut off those who were doubting him and those who wondered if he wasn’t giving his all. But apart from his response in words, he could have an even bigger, more impactful response on Saturday night.

And that would be by getting a result that would take him to the next round of the playoffs.
