With two NASCAR Cup Series championships and a legacy for the ages, one might think that Kyle Busch would have little regrets in his career when it comes to trophies. Well, turns out that isn’t the case. Just a few weeks following Denny Hamlin’s disclosure, ex-teammate Kyle Busch took the stage to express his preference for NASCAR trophies. Intriguingly, while outlining his selection for the best trophy in the sport, Busch took a jibe at his own unfulfilled quest to secure a win in a highly prestigious Cup Series race.

Some time ago, Denny Hamlin had spoken about his favorite NASCAR trophy. Despite the fact that winning that particular award had eluded him, he didn’t fail to note that Busch was a holder of that coveted prize, even adding how one could witness it if they visited Busch’s house.

Kyle Busch reveals his favorite NASCAR Trophy

As Kyle Busch revealed his selection of most cherished trophies, he also cleverly insinuated his continuous pursuit and yet-to-be-realized dream of winning the prestigious Daytona 500 race. He then continued to mention a bunch of trophies that he had accumulated over the years in his Cup career.

During an interview with Fox, Busch mentioned, “Ooh, I don’t know man. There’s a lot of great ones. I’ll tell you one of my favorites that I don’t have, that Larry has, is a Daytona 500 trophy. So that would certainly be nice. But you can never go wrong with a Martinsville clock. You can never go wrong with a Nashville guitar…”

“There’s this Cabela’s race at Michigan back in 2004 in the Xfinity Series that I won, and it was a huge sprawling, or brawling Bears bronze trophy. That thing weighs like 80 pounds so that one’s really really cool as well. A lot of neat ones over the years. You can’t forget about the sword from Bristol the last great coliseum. I can go on there’s too many.”

Denny Hamlin had previously mentioned his favorite trophy in NASCAR

Before Busch, Denny Hamlin had discussed how he would never have the chance to win his favorite trophy. Speaking on his podcast, the JGR driver had mentioned that the trophy handed out at Auto Club Speedway had been his all-time favorite trophy. Although, since he had never won at the race track he never had one. But why did he mention that he would not be able to get one in the future?

Hamlin had mentioned, “Oh Gosh, I don’t know, I have to think about that. One of the best and it actually doesn’t fall into this… California is one that I really wanted. Never going to get it. Like, Fontana, the surfboard… That was cool…” Adding, “Yeah it was cool. It’s at Kyle Busch’s house if we wanna go check it out.”

Hamlin’s uncertainty about ever getting the trophy can be traced back to NASCAR’s intentions of transforming the track into a short track. Because of this, the racing calendar for 2024 doesn’t include any races at this venue. The length of the reconstruction could be extensive, which puts the possibility of NASCAR’s return in 2025 into question.
