Kyrie Irving had been in the news for all the wrong reasons last month. The former Cleveland Cavaliers made headlines following a tweet he sent out that made it seem as though he was an antisemite, as the tweet contained a screenshot of a documentary on Amazon that was filled with antisemitic tropes.

Irving was subsequently suspended from the Brooklyn Nets and even dropped by Nike amidst their release of the Kyrie 8 sneakers. Recent rumors have it that both Adidas, a company that was worth $20 billion in October of 2022, and Puma are pursuing Irving in an attempt to sign him.
As for Kyrie himself, he’s been pretty quiet about his troubles as of late, focusing primarily on Nets games. BKN by the way, following their most recent win against the Toronto Raptors that ended with Irving hitting a step-back 3 for game, have been an astounding 9-1 in their last 10 games.
Kyrie Irving donates $22,000 to a woman trying to complete college
Kyrie Irving has never looked to get mass amounts of praise from the public for his philanthropic endeavors. Everything he’s done, he’s done so with little to no media attention. Most recently, Irving helped out a sophomore at Howard University named Destiny Thompson.
Thompson opened up a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising $6,000 for herself. Little did she know that Kyrie would step in and blow her target out of the water, dropping $22,000 of his own money to help her work towards her civil engineering degree.

Kyrie Irving has been very philanthropic over the years
Less than a month ago, Kyrie Irving donated $65,000 to a family who had lost one of their members, Shanquella Robinson, on a trip to Mexico. As expected, he did so quietly. He also donated a whopping $323,000 to ‘Feeding America’ a couple years ago.
Along with this, the former first overall pick dropped $1.5 million to help support the WNBA as well while also partnering up with Nike to provide 17 pallets of food and masks to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
