“Angel Reese is Probably the Greatest Athlete to Come out of LSU”: Shaquille O’Neal Disregards Himself and Legend Pete Maravich in Complement to Angel Reese
Shaquille O’Neal may not make an awful lot of hot takes on anything very often, but the man sure does love a certain amount of exaggeration in anything he does. During countless, he has been caught making certain things in NBA history out to be far more than they really were. Even his MVP beef with Steve Nash can serve as a bit of an example of just that.
Still, when it comes to hyping up other people, this enthusiasm of his can’t often be knocked. After all, who doesn’t like it when greats of any given sport give their props to the next person up. However, the man’s recent comments may be that belong in the category of exceptions.
You see, O’Neal has recently been on the Angel Reese hype train. And why wouldn’t he? After all, the young woman has been absolutely phenomenal for LSU’s women’s basketball team. But, even with all that being given, the man’s recent comments on the WNBA prospect may have gone just a tad bit too far.
Shaquille O’Neal dubs Angel Reese to be the greatest ever athlete to have belonged to the annals of LSU
Angel Reese is LSU’s top scorer in the women’s division, while her effort on the defensive end is pretty darn elite as well. Frankly, when it comes to basketball prospects, there aren’t many better out there today than her. And clearly, Shaquille O’Neal agrees with that opinion, to the point where some might disagree with him.
Here are his words on the 20-year-old, and generational talent for the sport of basketball.
“She (Angel Reese) is probably the greatest athlete to come of LSU sports Man and female.”
“She’s probably the greatest athlete to come out of LSU sports. Man and female.”

Those are some flattering words for sure. However, how true are his words really? After all, LSU is a D1 school, meaning there have been multiple different NBA players that have come out of there. And even if we take the 2 NBA greats that have come out of there, can we really say Angel Reese is better than Shaquille O’Neal and the great Pete Maravich ever were? Frankly, it’s beyond hard to say.
What did Shaquille O’Neal average during his time in LSU?
Shaquille O’Neal was beyond dominant during his time in LSU. He averaged a stellar 21.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and a monster 4.6 blocks per game. So yes, there is a reason Larry Bird couldn’t stop praising the man after he saw a college performance.
