It seems that Pat Riley is incensed with Bam Adebayo for his play this offseason. There’s no other reason a rumor like this would make waves.

There’s been a huge wave of ridicule that the Miami Heat have faced in the past week or so. The Milwaukee Bucks have arguably done the thoroughest job of taking revenge in this year’s playoffs.
Indeed, their merciless beatdown of Miami this year should eradicate most of their Bubble memories. Most of all, it has placed Giannis back on most people’s list of top 5 NBA players today. The Greek Freak has proved that he now has a supporting cast that could take him to the Finals.
Much of it can be attributed to the Bucks’ improved perimeter play. Jrue Holiday has really been a next-level acquisition for the Bucks from the trade market.
Holiday, Middleton and Giannis will be tested to the limit in 2 days’ time when they meet the Brooklyn Nets. Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving will prove to be the ultimate test for every team they face in this year’s playoffs.
Pat Riley reveals that Miami Heat were looking to delay a supermax extension for Bam Adebayo
Bam Adebayo is one of the Heat players to have seemingly regressed this year. Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro are definitely on this list, but Bam missed some real bunny layups and floaters through the course of the series.
He did an exemplary job on defense, but there’s only so much he could’ve done on that end to keep Miami in games. Pat Riley has recently revealed that he did foresee something like this could happen. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Riley said:
“We tried to convince him this could be different.” But Bam wanted the extension and Heat agreed because Riley said deserved it.
Riley just admitted Heat spoke to Bam about possibility of delaying extension last Nov., which would have given Heat $12-13 M more in cap space this summer.”We tried to convince him this could be different.” But Bam wanted extension and Heat agreed because Riley said deserved it

The timing of this leak is definitely up for questioning. One wonders what kinda money or power moves that Riley is contemplating in his role as the Heat’s president.
