There isn’t much more that Atlanta vs Philly could’ve given us from an absolutely spectacular playoff series opener. Both teams came out to play on the offensive end of the floor, and the game ended up being a humdinger.
Trae Young led the way for the Hawks with 35 points and 10 dimes on the night. Before shooting himself cold in the second half, Young had an amazing hot start with 25 points and 7 dimes in the first half. He cleared the way for his team’s role players to come into their own.
However, Joel Embiid isn’t the type to back down from a dogfight. He overcame some stout defense from Clint Capela and the Hawks’ frontcourt to impose his own footprint on the game. The MVP finalist himself finished with a handsome 39 points and 9 rebounds on the night.
The game stood at 116-99 in the Hawks’ favor with a little more than 4 minutes to go when it turned on its head. Doc Rivers called a timeout, marshalled his troops and threw hard full-court coverages at Trae Young. This resulted in an exciting finish to the game.
Bogdan Bogdanovic quiets the Philly crowd down
One of the several signature and tense playoff moments down the stretch was Bogdan Bogdanovic knocking down a 3-pointer. The shot was as clutch as any we’ve seen all season long given the pressure the Hawks were under.
As a result, Bogdan got hyped and wanted to let his feelings be known to the world. He motioned to the Sixers crowd that seemed to be tearing the roof down at that point with his finger. He then put that finger to his mouth, triggering the deflated home crowd.

This promises to be an extremely exciting series studded with moments like this. The playoffs feel different, more unpredictable and more exciting without LeBron James and Stephen Curry involved.
