“Bradley Beal is not a top 5 guard”: Shaq and Dwyane Wade snub Wizards star while naming Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard in their premier guards list
Shaq and Dwyane Wade list out their top 5 guards of the 2020-21 NBA season so far and include guys like Dame and Steph Curry, but not Bradley Beal.
With each team finishing out about a third of their season as of this moment, Shaq, Dwyane Wade, and the NBA on TNT cast list out their top 5 guards so far this season.
Guard play in the NBA is at an all-time high at the moment as there are a plethora of stellar guards in the NBA. Guys like Devin Booker and Zach Lavine might not even make the All-Star game.
The topic of listing out the top 5 guards in the league came up after Donovan Mitchell’s extraordinary 36 point night to put Jayson Tatum and the Celtics away last night.
Candace Parker and the NBA on TNT crew talk about the best guards in the league
Right off the bat, the crew cemented the fact that Damian Lillard, Steph Curry, and Luka Doncic amongst the upper echelon of guards in the NBA. Shaq rounded out his list by adding Brooklyn Nets guards Kyrie Irving and James Harden.
Following Shaq’s list, Candace Parker and Dwyane Wade threw out names like Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young who can also be put into that group. “Trae’s an animal,” said D-Wade.

What a joke said Trae Young and not Bradley Beal or Devin Booker. Lol

However, NBA fans were quick to realize that they left out Bradley Beal from their list and didn’t even mention him outside of the list. Beal is leading the league in points per game with 33.3 while trying to help the bottom tier Wizards string together a couple wins. Regardless of Washington’s record, Beal deserves to be mentioned amongst the cream of the crop when it comes to NBA guards today.
Interestingly so, Shaq claimed that there is no difference in the top 5 guards in the NBA today and top 5 careers amongst the guards today. This isn’t really the case as say, Kyle Lowry has had a better career than Luka Doncic, but Lowry is in no way a top 5 guard in the league at this moment.
