Dennis Rodman's Bodyguard Once Warned His Client to Follow Michael Jordan or Risk Losing his Popularity: "Visit Oprah"

Dennis Rodman, once a renowned NBA star, experienced a profound fall from grace by 2006 when his book, I Should Be Dead by Now was released. Rodman’s once-admired basketball career seemed overshadowed by his personal struggles. This led to a tarnished public image and a stark reminder of the consequences of fame. Well, as mentioned in the book, his bodyguard had a few suggestions. With his time in the spotlight slowly running out, the Worm was open to hearing what he had to say. And, his recommendation was quite simple. Start dressing like Michael Jordan and go on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Dennis Rodman was told to dress like Michael Jordan if he wanted to keep his fame

In the mid-2000s, Dennis Rodman’s stock was at an all-time low. His problems and personal struggles had come back to haunt him, ruining the public’s perception of him. He needed a fix-up, or his stardom would fade away like many who had come before him.

His regular methods wouldn’t work. The eccentric personality which once led him to put on a dress would not be able to help him this time. After all, the entire world was used to it by now. No amount of dresses would change the way they looked at him.

However, his bodyguard had an interesting suggestion. He believed that all the Worm needed to do was shock the general public. Similar to how he did with his dresses back when they were still a novelty. So, he recommended a tailor-made suit, like the one Michael Jordan wears, dying his hair back to its natural color, and last but not least. appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Take a look at the tweet below by Complex.

“‘You know what you need to do?’ he told me. ‘You need to get you a tailor-made suit, something that Michael Jordan would wear. Dye your hair back to its natural color, take off the sunglasses and go on Oprah. You will blow people’s minds. The same way you blew their minds when you put on a dress.'”

It certainly would have been a site to see, but Rodman didn’t follow through. Instead, he resorted to doing even crazier things to stay relevant. Including and not limited to visiting North Korea.

Rodman has done a lot of crazy things to stay relevant over the past few years

Dennis Rodman, the flamboyant former NBA star, has gone to outrageous lengths to remain in the public eye. From donning wedding dresses to dying his hair in vibrant colors, Rodman’s antics have been nothing short of ridiculous. One of his most perplexing ventures was his visit to North Korea, where he befriended dictator Kim Jong-Un.

This bizarre friendship thrust Rodman into the global spotlight, raising eyebrows and attracting both criticism and intrigue. More recently, his appearance in the acclaimed documentary series “The Last Dance,” which chronicled the Chicago Bulls dynasty, reminded the world of his eccentric persona, further solidifying his status as a captivating and enigmatic figure.

Not much has changed. Rodman is still the fun-loving guy he was all those years ago. But, he has made significant changes to his bad habits, now leading a much cleaner lifestyle. And he looks far, far better for it.
