Did Marcus Morris purposely step on Luka Doncic’s injured ankle during Game 5 of Clippers vs Mavericks
Luka Doncic’s injured ankle was the talking point of Game 5 and it became more so when a video angle showed Marcus Morris purposely stepping on Luka’s ankle.
Clippers romped to a massive win in Game 5 vs Mavericks, thanks to an all-rounded offensive performance. Both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George had 30+ points and the Clippers defense was able to keep Luka Doncic in check.
The Mavs star was clearly struggling with his injured ankle and was labouring through most of the game. The Clippers outfit was thus aware of Luka’s condition and that might have instigated a naughty act from Marcus Morris.

Going for the ball, Luka felt a little something on his injured ankle, as Marcus Morris had stepped onto his left shoe, ultimately causing it to come off.

While initial video angles made it seem like just another ‘coming together’ of players, a new video angle suggests that Morris very well knew what he was doing there. And if it was so, this was a pretty bad move on Morris’ part, as Luka could have been ruled out of the series.
Thankfully for the Mavericks, he was able to get back to his feet and carried on playing the game.

Doncic had been calling out the referees all-night long, as he felt the Mavs weren’t getting a lot of calls to go their way. He even received a technical for his on-court tantrums.
The 21 year old NBA star was also involved in cases of trash talking with Pat Beverley and Marcus Morris, as he grew increasingly frustrated with how things were panning out on court.
Rick Carlisle too was ejected from the game for showing dissent over a referee call.
What next for Mavericks?
The Mavs are now up against it in the series, as the Clippers seem to have gotten back their mojo tonight. A 3-2 lead and Paul George coming back to form means Luka and the Mavericks will need to pull a rabbit out of the hat to take this series to a 7th game.
But if anyone can, it has to be Luka Doncic. A tantalising Game 6 awaits us.
