“Does anyone want to play basketball with me?” Old Facebook post by Nikola Jokic resurfaces following 50-point outing in Nuggets loss to the Sacramento Kings
A tweet from 10 years ago from MVP candidate Nikola Jokic, asking if anybody wanted to play basketball with him, has resurfaced.
Nikola Jokic has come a long way since being drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. The Nuggets clearly saw something in the Serbian national as they had plenty of opportunities to trade him, but didn’t. Most notably, the Jusuf Nurkic deal that sent Nurkic to Portland, could’ve been a deal for Jokic.
The passing big man has made several strides in his game since his arrival in the NBA. Though his defense could use a little work, offensively, he’s nothing the league has ever seen before. This 2020-21 season, Jokic is a frontrunner for snagging the MVP trophy.
Taking it back exactly 10 years ago, a 15-year-old Nikola Jokic was most probably on the cusp of realizing that his true passion is basketball. A tweet from him in 2011 proves this to be true.
An old Facebook post from Nikola Jokic is doing the rounds again
Nikola Jokic’s desire to just hoop seems to be engraved into his DNA from the young age of 15. A Reddit user online managed to dig up an ancient tweet from Jokic at that age asking anyone on Twitter if they just wanted to play basketball.
That tweet was sent out on February 7th, 2011. Fast-forward exactly 10 years later and Jokic dropped a career-high 50 points on the Sacramento Kings’ head. Unfortunately, his efforts would go in vain as the Nuggets did endure a loss against the Kings.
Nikola Jokic has been balling out his mind this season, as his season averages are flirting with a triple-double. He’s putting up 27.2 points, 11.5 assists, and 8.6 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 57% from the field.
