Despite a net worth of $2 billion, Michael Jordan is not someone willing to give up earning money in any way possible. An avid fan of basketball, and golf, the Bulls legend has also been dipping his toes in competitive fishing for the last four years. The Bulls legend even has an $8,000,000 yacht for his team ‘Catch 23’. This year, with the cash prize being the highest it has ever been at $10,300,000, the man and his team will reportedly head to Big Rock, PI to try and win a massive payday.

Ocean City will hold its 50th White Marlin Open in 2023, an event that Jordan has been attending for the last 4 years. The competition itself is held over a 5-day stretch, as per ABC News. Each participating team will only be allowed to fish during 3 of these 5 days to compete in 30 different categories to choose from. The top cash prize for all the events combined is expected to be $10,300,000. While it is near-impossible to win that much from the competition, considering the 400 registered teams participating, MJ’s competitive spirit is very unlikely to waver.
Michael Jordan has caught big in the past, and looking to repeat it
As mentioned previously, Michael Jordan will be competing for the 4th consecutive time in the competition. But, getting a payout of $10.3 million will be difficult. However, Jordan has caught big fish before, something that will fuel his confidence. Of course, he will be looking to catch the right species of fish more than once this time around. Take a look at the tweet by Tyler Feldman.

Unfortunately for them, their Marlin fell just short of the grand prizes, weighing in as the heaviest, when compared to those caught by others in the competition. Having come so close to winning big money the last time out, Jordan’s competitive spirit has likely only been stoked.
Still, fishing is a patient person’s sport. Will Michael Jordan and his team be able to keep theirs up for long enough to win big?
Jordan’s yacht can be rented
One of Michael Jordan’s three yachts is surprisingly open to be used by the public for a fee. Unfortunately for the common folk of the world, that fee is $850,000 per week to rent the $80,000,000-worth yacht.

Aside from this, Jordan has set his $8,000,000 yacht aside just for competitive fishing. As for his third, the value of it is unknown. However, given how much the first two are valued, it is likely the third one only further accentuates his embarrassment of riches.
