Fact Check: Is Caitlin Clark Transgender?

Caitlin Clark has taken the world of women’s basketball by storm. She is easily one of the most skilled guards at the college level and is proving her talent in this year’s NCAA Championship.

Clark‘s name has likely created the most impact this March Madness. She has led the University of Iowa to the Division I Finals and is all set to face LSU for the title.

Clark, perhaps the greatest point guard in the history of women’s college basketball, is also on her way to breaking multiple records before the game ends today. It is the closest Iowa Women’s basketball has ever come to the Division I championship and it’s not surprising that Caitlin is the one to lead them to it.

Unfortunately, amid her heroic run during the March Madness, Clarke is facing some disappointing rumors. We will evaluate the rumors and ascertain their legitimacy.

Claim: Caitlin Clark is transgender

Many on TikTok and Twitter have accused Clark of being a transgender athlete. Her exceptional performance in the tournament combined with her historic stats have made her the target of these rumors. It is likely that fans from rivaling teams, stunned by Caitlin’s dominance, have taken this step.

However, the rumor has already spread like wildfire and is all over social media. Fans and burner accounts are also regularly putting out tweets accusing the 6ft guard of hiding her gender identity.

In essence, these are serious accusations against the Iowa star. The rumors suggest that she has kept her gender identity which indirectly suggests she has broken NCAA rules.

Fact & Verdict: Clark is not a transgender

Despite all the rumors, there is nothing to support the claim. The rumors suggesting Caitlin Clark is transgender are untrue and baseless. While transgender athletes are allowed to compete in the NCAA under specific guidelines, if Clark had hidden her identity, she would likely get banned from participating in any college competition.

Fortunately, the rumors are just disappointing and far from the truth. Caitlin remains one of the greatest collegiate-level basketball players in history and has no damaging secret.

There is reason to believe that Clark has faced these allegations because of her namesake. A Senior Research Associate at GLSEN, also named Caitlin Clark, is an outspoken supporter of LGBTQ rights.

Clark’s work in LGBTQ awareness has led to people confusing the two Clarks. It is also perhaps the reason for the rumors that have misquoted Clark’s (Iowa Star) gender identity.

In conclusion, the basketball star is not transgender. All the rumors against her are baseless and without any proof. They are feeble attempts to malign her athletic career. Fortunately, they won’t work.
