“Get You Shot in the Streets”: Ja Morant’s ‘Toy Gun’ Claim Elicits ‘Morbid’ Response From Skip Bayless
It has been a few tough weeks for Ja Morant as the Grizzlies star is facing heavy suspension from the NBA. He landed himself in this situation after flashing a gun on Instagram Live while riding a friend’s car. However, now Morant’s representatives and camp claim that the gun was in reality a toy gun. In the latest Undisputed episode, Skip Bayless gave a quite morbid response to Ja’s camp’s proposition and claimed some horrible consequences that Morant might have faced hypothetically.
Ja Morant’s camp is currently engaging in a campaign to challenge the NBA’s assertion that the weapon was genuine. According to Claudia Jordan, host of The Breakfast Club, her sources indicate that the toy gun belonged to one of Morant’s relatives in the backseat and was passed to Ja during a playful moment. However, despite these claims, Skip Bayless remains unconvinced and goes as far as labeling Ja Morant’s representatives as ‘enablers’ due to his perceived erratic behavior over the past year.
Skip Bayless claims some morbid consequences of Ja Morant handling a ‘toy’ gun
Skip Bayless is in no way willing to accept that Ja Morant should be pardoned for a suspension. In fact, he feels that the Grizzlies star should humble himself and stop his erratic behavior. Speaking on the latest episode of Undisputed, Skip said that the gun was the ‘most authentic’ looking replica he had ever seen. He further added:
“A toy gun like that, well that will get you shot on the streets in a heartbeat. I’m talking about your heartbeat or lack thereof. And that could be by who knows who or by a policeman.”

Skip further went on to blame Ja Morant’s camp for enabling his behavior, comparing him to alcoholics. To back his claim, he alleged how Ja’s representatives would prop him back up and continue to support his erratic behavior. This, as Bayless believes, is a form of ‘enabling’ behavior.
Morant’s camp has not been able to subdue his behavior in the last year
This incident is not the only one that has drawn attention to his behavior. Another notable incident occurred after the Pacers vs. Grizzlies game on January 29, 2023. The Indiana Pacers alleged that someone pointed a red laser at their players from the team bus. Subsequently, it was discovered that Ja Morant and his friends were responsible for wielding the laser. They used a gun from inside a car. Despite these events, the NBA found no evidence of a weapon-related altercation.
It is evident that Ja Morant’s representatives have been unable to effectively rein in his behavior, further contributing to his erratic conduct over the past year.
