LeBron James is finally pairing up with one member of the ‘Banana Boat’ squad as the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to terms with Carmelo Anthony.

The Lakers had been eyeing Melo from day one of free agency, and it looks like they finally got their man. Anthony is going to bring some much needed shooting to the Lakers unit after they lost both KCP and Kyle Kuzma in a trade to acquire Russell Westbrook.
Melo fit in perfectly with the Portland Trailblazers, finally finding a home after people wrote him off following his unimpressive stints in Oklahoma City and Houston. He averaged 14.3 points per game with the Trailblazers while shooting the most efficiently he ever has.

NBA World Trolls LeBron James For Needing More Help As Carmelo Anthony Signs With The Lakers
LeBron James has been on the receiving end of a fair share of criticism after the Lakers latest moves. People are bringing up how this means that LeBron will be playing on the second superteam of his NBA career (you can argue third), and how Michael Jordan never did anything of the sort.
When it comes to anything the Lakers do at this point, LeBron’s legacy is always brought up. “How much more help does he need” is the one question fans are clammoring about.
So, you can expect that the reaction to Carmelo Anthony’s signing, after already trading for Russell Westbrook, was pretty negative.

NBA fans also poured on the jokes about the Lakers bringing together a “retirement home” this offseason with all their veteran signings:

As it stands, we have no idea how this Lakers team is going to gel together. You could always go with the “LeBron James will figure it out” argument and assume that things could work out well, but there is a slight possibility things go haywire.
The Lakers are pretty compromised for depth, and their lack of shooting will catch up to them at some point. Carmelo Anthony does help out there, shooting 40.9% from three, but the Lakers will need more or find other ways to beat their opponents.
