“I Like Donald Trump”: ‘Broke’ Dennis Rodman Reasoned His Friendship With $2 Billion Worth Former President

Dennis Rodman is likely one of the most misunderstood athletes in history. Though his life choices are his own, one cannot discard the boundless trauma of his early years. The trauma that was created by his ‘naive’ mother.  Shirley had made a simple yet life-changing choice. She had chosen her daughters over Dennis. The consequences of this choice haunted Dennis for life.

The 6ft 8″ giant dealt with it the only way he could without any professional help. He buried it all under his ‘eccentricity’ and wildness. However, his heart still craved affection but, unfortunately, Dennis could only properly connect to people he deemed ‘misunderstood.’

From Kim Jung-un to Donald Trump, Rodman loves to befriend the outcasts. While there is still a sense of falsification to Dennis’s friendship with the dictator, his friendship with Donald Trump is as real as it gets.

The strange bond between Dennis Rodman and Donald Trump

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Dennis Rodman detailed his friendship with then-President Donal Trump. Rodman claimed that he was unaffected by Trump’s rise as the leader of the USA. For Dennis, Donald was a man capable of making him laugh. That’s what made him so precious to Dennis.

Rodman, bluntly confessed that he wasn’t a fan of Trump’s presidency. The Bulls star preferred him as his friend more than as the president. He revealed that the $2 billion worth businessman was a man he trusted and wanted to share a beer with.

Dennis Rodman: “I like Donald Trump. I don’t like him as a president, but he’s f*****g cool as f**k. Donald Trump makes me laugh. He tries to be this holier than thou guy, and I kid him about that every time I see him, I don’t look at him like the president, I look at him like a friend. He can carry a torch with me anytime, someone who I can sit down, chit chat, and have a beer with.”

Kim Jong-un and Trump’s meeting overwhelmed Rodman

Trump and Kim Jong-un are both ‘friends’ to Rodman. In June of 2018, both these trusted friends of Rodman met in what was one of the biggest diplomatic events of the modern world. Hermit Kingdom’s dialogue with the Western world was unprecedented.

While the world contemplated the outcomes of this mega event, Rodman had different priorities and he was overcome by the happiness of his friends’ meeting. He believed the two leaders could create a better world together.

Ultimately, the meeting only led to disappointment. North Korea resumed the status quo. Meanwhile, Trump was thrown out of his office in a rather brutal manner. Not the best end to Rodman’s plans for world peace.
