Much has been made of Domantas Sabonis ever since the end of game 2 between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. Some say, he did absolutely nothing wrong and was nothing but angelically innocent in the whole incident. And those who aren’t Kings fans generally agree that both parties were responsible to some degree here.

Draymond Green has also since come out and spoken on the whole incident, alleging that Sabonis routinely holds onto him, and so, the grabbing of the foot wasn’t an isolated incident. And apparently, the officials have simply been blowing call after call on this. To be fair to Green here, that really isn’t very hard to believe.
Since then, there has been a lot said about Sabonis by the Warriors themselves as well, as per many reports. And so, when Kevon Looney sat down for his recent presser, he was always going to be asked all about it. However, the answer he gave wasn’t anything anybody in the world was expecting.
What were the reports on the Warriors’ comments on Domantas Sabonis?
Domantas Sabonis is a physical player. Yes, we know, you aren’t exactly feeling enlightened by the light of knowledge after that line, but bear with us on this one.
You see, as per reports, the Warriors do feel that the man is going a bit too far with his physicality, even by the playoffs’ lofty standards. In fact, the organization has even gone as far as to say that he is using the ball as a ‘weapon’. Here is a source’s direct statement on the matter.
“There is some anger within the organization toward the league. There’s a sense in the organization that Sabonis is shoving people on offensive rebounds and playing with his elbows out and using the ball as a weapon on offense.”

Of course, that statement doesn’t look great. And to be fair to Golden State, they do have some reasons to be mad about. After all, Sabonis is proving himself to be one of the more silent agitators in the NBA today. And a bit shockingly, he is beyond good at what he does.
However, even with that being said, apparently Kevon Looney. Or rather, perhaps all this was well within expectations for this man. Why do we say that? Let’s dive in.
Kevon Looney doesn’t seem to mind
Not only does Kevon Looney not seem to mind Domantas Sabonis’s game, but you could even say that the man was defending him. Just take a look at his comments below.
“As a big man, that’s what we do. I think that’s pretty normal. Pushing, shoving, grabbing, that’s all part of protocol down there (under the basket). And… sometimes they call it, sometimes they don’t.”

During a whirlwind of rumors and discord between these two franchises, Kevon Looney’s statement is beyond mature. Hopefully, both Domantas Sabonis and Draymond Green can take a page out of a fellow big man’s book, and concentrate more on playing basketball together. Then again, we doubt that will ever happen.
