De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings is having a season to remember for a lifetime. It took 5 years for the 5th pick of the 2017 Draft to not only get his first All-Star selection. However, it certainly looks like the wait was worth it.

The 25-year-old has also led the Kings to their first playoff appearance in 16 years this season. To add to that, the former Kentucky point guard also managed to get 2-0 up on a Warriors team that has been in the Finals in 6 out of the last 8 years and has won it 4 times.
He was also the NBA’s most clutch player this season, which earned him the inaugural trophy for the same. From being in trade talks along with Tyrese Haliburton last season to then becoming one of the best players in the league this season, Fox has really turned his career around.
The Warriors might be back in the series (2-2), but the Kings will have the home games to take away the series. And if they get past the Warriors, Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd thinks Fox will become a top-10 player in the league.
Colin Cowherd would pick De’Aaron Fox over Ja Morant
In the latest episode of the podcast Hoops Tonight with Jason Timpf, the veteran analyst went to lengths to praise the Kings’ guard and said that he would choose De’Aaron Fox over Grizzlies’ 2x All-Star, Ja Morant, as of now.
“If they get past the Warriors, he is going to be a top-10 player, I feel like he’s just 12vish. And then you watch him in this [Kings-Warriors] series,” Cowherd said.
“If I told you today, Ja Morant or him, I’d take De’Aron Fox”

That is a big praise considering the fact that Morant was in serious MVP conversation this season and led his side to the Conference Semi-finals last year just to lose it against the eventual champions, the Golden State Warriors.
Is Cowherd making sense about Fox?
Considering the fact that Morant and Co could not get past pretty much the same Warriors team (as today’s) if the Fox-led Kings get past them, Colin’s take will make sense.
Keeping in mind Morant was injured when the Dubs won that series, it would be pretty unfair. However, even if you compare the two players individually, De’Aron would edge Ja.
Both the point guards depend a lot more on their athleticism than their shooting, which is a bit questionable compared to other top guards in the league. But when you take into account how much better Fox turns in clutch situations, he edges Morant and most other players in the league as a game-winner, and so, as a player as well.
