Is Ja Morant Playing Tonight vs Spurs? Injury Update For Grizzlies' All-Star as They Prepare to Take on Gregg Popovich's Side

If the last season wasn’t enough to surprise us, the Memphis Grizzlies might finish this one even better than how it did in 2021-22. However, Ja Morant has been a lot more important for them than he was last term.

The 6ft 2’ point guard was averaging 27.2 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists per game before he went down with a thigh injury on his right leg and missed the game against the Utah Jazz on Sunday.

Standing at just a 12-10 record against the Western Conference teams, Grizzlies now play the Spurs tonight and risk losing their 6-game winning streak. Will their All-Star point guard be back for the home game? Let’s get down to it.

Will Ja Morant play tonight vs San Antonio Spurs?

The last he played, Morant put up 32 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists in a 123-115 win over the Orlando Magic and made his case stronger in the MVP race.

However, he also aggravated his thigh soreness which he was struggling with last month as well. Although there’s nothing serious, he might be a game-time decision on Monday.

The Grizzlies are still to update the current official status of the high-flying star. We will keep you updated on the status of Morant.

How have the Grizzlies played without Morant?

With a 26-13 record tied with the Nuggets, the #1 team in the West would surely want to win this one. It would be easy with Ja. However, his backup has also been playing terrifically well this season and can help them get an easy one against Gregg Popovich’s side that’s finding some way to lose every game possible.

Tyus Jones, one of the best backup guards in the league, is averaging 10 points and 4 assists for the season but in the games that he started (8), the man’s averaging 20.6 points and 8.4 assists per game. They are 3-3 without him in the line-up but can afford Ja taking a rest tonight, if only he wants it.
