Is Zion Williamson playing tonight vs Kings

‘Is Zion Williamson playing tonight’ has been a constant question for Pelicans fans in an injury ridden season. Pelicans have now released a report for tonight

Pelicans star Zion Williamson has been talk of the NBA bubble for a myriad of reasons.

However, the star can’t seem to catch a break with injuries in his rookie season. The rookie sensation already missed a major chunk of the season with an injury and made his debut only early this year in January. The young superstar seemed to be on the right track in March when the season was bought to a halt.

However, Zion made sure that he stayed in shape during the lockdown and looked ready to take the next step in his NBA career.

But a family emergency forced him to leave the NBA bubble resulting in lack of game fitness before the seeding games resumed as he missed all the three scrimmage games.

Although Zion returned in time for the first league game, he was placed under minutes restrictions to avoid any recurrence of injuries. The rookie has had a disjointed first season so far and would surely like to go out on a high. But will the star suit up for the Pelicans tonight?

Is Zion Williamson playing tonight?

The Pelicans have ruled out Zion for their clash against the Kings with right knee soreness. Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry mentioned that the superstar is out for precautionary reasons. The 2019 number one draft pick had surgery on his right knee to repair a torn meniscus just before the season started in October and hence missed the first 43 games of his rookie season.

Zion’s teammates Brandon Ingram and Jrue Holiday are both out for their clash against the Kings with right knee soreness and right elbow contusion respectively.

The Pelicans were the favorites to bag the eighth seed in the west as they had a full-strength squad with rookie sensation Zion, all-star Ingram and the most favorable schedule in the seeding games. However, everything went wrong for them inside the bubble as they were the first to be ruled out of the race after their loss to fellow eighth seed challengers in San Antonio Spurs.
