Luka Doncic explains how humbled and vindicated he felt when LeBron James revealed his botched plan to sign the Slovenian to Team LeBron.

The Slovenian has earned comparisons to some of the greatest players in history through his 3rd season in the NBA. As a rookie, his scoring and playmaking numbers were in line with those of LeBron.
Doncic took a huge step ahead in his sophomore year. He upped his scoring average to 28.8 points per game – 6th in the league. His statline of 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists is essentially a triple-double.
It is quite conceivable that the 21-year-old could average a triple-double with a scoring average of nearly 30. Take last night for instance – despite missing all 6 of his 3-pointers, Doncic still led all scorers with 32 points. He has the ability to put his stamp on games that is quite reminiscent of LeBron.
Luka Doncic says LeBron James made him feel special in Uninterrupted interview
LeBron James revealed his pursuit of Luka for a Nike shoe line 2 years ago. James said the team at Nike didn’t quite appreciate Luka Doncic’s potential.
“I wanted to begin Team LeBron and have Luka as my first signing with Nike. I don’t believe that my guys at Nike was ready for that. Obviously they were not, because he ended up going to Jordan. I don’t know if Luka knows this.”
Luka Doncic, an ardent LeBron fan, was overjoyed to find out this:
“I felt special. It’s something you feel about. Obviously, I didn’t know it before,” Luka Doncic told the media. “It’s something special. Something I can’t explain.”
