The Sixers Twitter account takes to social media to firmly proclaim Joel Embiid is the MVP, following a win over Kyrie and Nets.

The much-anticipated matchup between the top 2 seeds out East took place last night, and more or less did not live up to the hype. While the Sixers were healthy for the most part, the Brooklyn Nets have been ravaged by injuries and/or stars taking rest.
With both Kevin Durant and James Harden sidelined, Kyrie Irving was the only notable Nets star available. Not to mention the two newest recruits in Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge were also unavailable last night.
Kyrie Irving and the Nets put up a valiant effort but simply could not contain Joel Embiid, en route to a dominant 39 and 13 game. The Sixers are now in sole possession of the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Nets reside in the number 2 spot.
Following the 123-117 victory, the Philadelphia 76ers account put up a cheeky meme, praising Joel Embiid’s MVP-esque performance.
The Sixers say that Joel Embiid is the MVP this season
The 76ers social media account remains firm in its belief that Joel Embiid, despite missing time due to injury, is still the 2020-21 NBA MVP.

The meme gets a bit funnier when you think about the fact that the Sixers placed the text, “people who think Joel isn’t MVP” on Kyrie Irving. Kyrie Irving, who is on the same team as James Harden, would certainly disagree with their conference rivals having the season MVP, rather than the man averaging 26 and 11, leading an injury-riddled Nets to a top 2 seed.
Could Embiid still win the MVP over Nikola Jokic?
Joel Embiid was in position to run away with MVP honors at the All-Star Weekend. It was, of course, conditional on him sustaining his dominance.
A hyperextended knee caused him to miss time at the end of March and start of April. This, coupled with the fact that he missed some games prior to the ASG would be detrimental to his case for MVP.
Nikola Jokic has been the perfect example for ‘availability is the best ability’ as he’s yet to miss a game this season. He’s been putting up absurd numbers this season, all while carrying the Nuggets to a top 6 seed in the loaded West. He’s been the de facto MVP for nearly a month now.
For Joel Embiid to somehow overtake Jokic in the MVP race this season, not only would he have to play every single game going forward, but would have to put up a stellar record while maintaining his stats. A single misstep and voters would most likely hand the award over to Jokic.
