‘JR Smith drops $150,000 Lakers championship ring’: LeBron James and co. would be ridiculing former teammate over another blunder
JR Smith shows off his $150k Lakers championship ring, but drops it when trying to let his daughter take it.
The Los Angeles Lakers had their much anticipated ring ceremony on the NBA’s regular season opening night against the Clippers. The night was bittersweet for the Lakers as Paul George and the Clippers beat the defending champs by 7.
All Lakers players who were a part of the 2019-20 championship run showed their rings off on social media. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Quinn Cook, and many more took to social media to express how they felt about receiving their rings.
JR Smith was also a part the Lakers’ run to claim the Larry O’Brien trophy. However, when he took to Instagram to show off his ring, it didn’t end so well.
JR Smith drops his Lakers championship ring on the floor
JR Smith made his way to the Lakers because they had an open roster spot going into the Bubble. This was due to Avery Bradley opting out of going to the Bubble for the safety of his family.
Smith is a free agent right now. However, since he was with the team during the Bubble, he did in fact receive a ring. It didn’t take the now 2x champion long before he showed off his new ring on social media.
In a video where he’s trying to get his daughter to wear his Lakers ring, the ring drops onto the floor, prompting a gasp from everyone in the room.

Luckily, the ring was unscathed. It would be in his best interest to insure the ring as it is worth $150,000. Receiving a championship ring isn’t a new feeling for JR Smith. He played a decent role in the Cleveland Cavaliers 2016 NBA title, alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
Getting chastised by LeBron and other teammates won’t be an issue for Smith either. After all, nobody can forget his antics in Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals. LeBron or JR certainly aren’t going to forget in a hurry.
