“Kanye West and 50 Cent”: ‘Best Athlete Artist’ Damian Lillard Picks the Worst Rappers From a List of the Most Sensational Musicians of the Century
Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard recently proclaimed himself as the best athlete rapper of all time. Claiming to be a better artist than his biggest competition in the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal, Lillard revealed a range of details about his favorite artists. Speaking on the BACKONFIGG podcast, Ep:108, Lillard was also asked to select two of his worst rappers, from a lineup of the best artists of all time. He ended up choosing the likes of Kanye West and 50 Cent, after quite a bit of struggle.
Arguably the best player of the Trail Blazers’ franchise’ history, Lillard has the utmost faith in his game. This seems to be true both on and off the court. Known by the name ‘Dame D.O.L.L.A.’, his success as a rapper means he has no qualms about naming himself as the best athlete musician of all time.
Damian Lillard picks the worst rappers of all time
Lillard claimed that nobody else takes music as seriously as he does. Having recently released the Dame Dolla album in August 2023, Lillard claimed that he was making a lot of music, and claimed to be taking the art more seriously than Shaquille O’Neal.
Regardless, when asked to choose his two worst rappers from a list of some of the best rappers of all time, Lillard was left confused. He initially asked whether he should choose on the basis of music, or sheer ability to rap. Lillard was told that he simply needs to decide which two rappers will end up “going away”:
“Like the actual ability to rap, the ability to rap, or their actual music? If I’m saying the ability to rap, two gotta go, I am gonna say Kanye and 50 Cent. Two in general, I am gonna say, I mean Eminem one of them for me. I am gonna say Eminem, and, that’s tough.”
The 33-year-old point guard stuck with Kanye West and 50 Cent as his answer. However, when it came to general music, Dame claimed that he would rather want Eminem to go away. However, Lillard failed to choose another name when it came to general music and suggested that all of the rappers on the list were uber-talented.
Damian Lillard recorded songs with Lil Wayne
It has been years since Damian Lillard started taking his rap career seriously. Releasing his first album in 2016, Lillard has actually worked with Lil Wayne in the past as well.
According to TMZ, the two are known to be close and recorded several songs together, back in 2016. The popular American rapper has been featured on multiple Lillard songs.
This includes the likes of “Sorry”, and “The Right One.” Lillard seems to have regularly been working on his music alongside his NBA career and has found incredible success as a musician as well. While that is partly due to his NBA fame, there is little doubt that the Dame has earned his way, when it comes to being a rapper.
