The Brooklyn Nets took down a pesky Atlanta Hawks 132-128 today. Harden finally broke out of a ‘rut’ and looked like his old self, as he went off for 31 points today. James Harden shot 5/9 from the deep, while throwing 15 dimes and grabbing 8 boards.
Kyrie Irving went for 26 points and 7 assists, while Kevin Durant scored a game-high 32 points. The Nets have now stacked 3 wins in a row, after the two consecutive losses to the Cavaliers. It seems as if they finally have found their rhythm, and with tonight’s showing, Harden has shown how he can play his natural game while helping his teammates too.
Kevin Durant achieves a significant feat, joins Wilt Chamberlain in an elite club
While a lot of eyes looked at tonight’s game as the resurgence of James Harden, people overlooked KD’s 32. We have gotten so used to his brilliance, it does not seem like anything new. With 32 tonight, Kevin Durant achieved a feat that no one has in over six decades.
KD became the second-ever player to average over 30 points in the first 15 games for a new team. The first-ever to do it was Wilt Chamberlain, who did it with the Warriors in the 1959-60 season. Those were Wilt’s first-ever games in the league.

This feat adds yet another feather to Kevin Durant’s hat of achievements. KD has one NBA MVP award, 2 Finals MVP awards, 2 NBA Championships, multiple All-NBA and All-Star selections. Durant is also a member of the elite 50-40-90 club, which only has 7 other members.
If KD keeps playing like he has this season, he has good chances at grabbing his 2nd NBA MVP honors. It will all depend on the Nets’ standing at the end of the season.
