Kevin Durant is one of the best players in today’s NBA. The 6’10” forward has been in exceptional form this season and has been playing at an MVP level.

Averaging close to 30 points, seven rebounds, and five assists per game, the Brooklyn Nets have been relying on KD heavily. Unfortunately, the Slim Reaper has gone down with an injury.

Durant recently suffered a sprained MCL, ruling him out of for a while. An injury that has significantly reduced his chances of winning the KIA MVP to just 3%.

Kevin Durant has a 3% chance of winning the KIA MVP after suffering a sprained MCL

Kevin Durant suffered an MCL sprain after Jimmy Butler landed on his knee in the Nets match against the Miami Heat. A huge blow for Brooklyn, as KD was having an MVP-caliber season.

Speaking of the award, the Slim Reaper’s injury has drastically changed people’s opinions regarding the possible winner. Following the news of his injury, the NBA released its Mid-Season Media Survey. The results of which show that Durant only has a 3% chance of winning the KIA MVP.

The results were published based on the votes of 30 beat reporters. As of now, the former MVP sits fifth on the list, behind the likes of Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jayson Tatum.

It certainly will be disappointing for KD. But, the two-time NBA Champion shouldn’t be too bothered and instead focus on getting back healthy, in time for the Playoffs.

Like it or not, the Brooklyn Nets are finally looking like the team fans were sold on when they initially signed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The team sits second in the East and is looking like favorites to win a chip. However, that is only when they are fit, healthy, and have KD on the court.

It will be interesting to just how well the team performs come Playoff time. One thing is clear, they will be relying on the Slim Reaper to get them their first NBA Championship banner.
