Simmons has been all over the news lately and mostly for the wrong reasons. The 25-year old has been facing the heat ever since his poor performances in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
There have been constant reports of a lot of hostility between Simmons and the 76ers management. With reports of the former rookie of the year being untraceable to not reverting teammate Joel Embid’s phone calls. The 3x All-Star is the eye of the storm.
Over the years, Simmons has been severely criticized for his inability to make jump shots. Being a point guard, shooting is one of the most important weapons in a player’s artillery, especially in the current era.
Simmons had a disappointing run in the 2021 playoffs, despite the 76ers being the top seed in the eastern conference.
Recently, a video of Simmons shooting a couple of 3-pointers surfaced on social media. The video didn’t seem to impress author Kevin O’Connor from The Ringer, who was seen tweeting some unpleasant comments about the 76ers star.

The sins of the 2021 playoffs continue to haunt Simmons. The Aussie had a terrible post-season, especially when it came to shooting the ball.
The former 1st pick in the 2016 draft shot a dismal 34.2% from the free-throw line and only attempted a single 3-point shot. Simmons’ poor shooting was heavily exploited during the playoffs, with the term Hack-a-Simmons being coined.
Recently, Simmons was seen practicing some 3-point shooting at a gym. The video has Simmons syncing some 3-pointers along with veteran point guard Rajan Rondo. However, the video had some not-so-kind words from the writer at The Ringer, Kevin O’Connor.

O’Connor’s comment didn’t go down too well with Blazers center Jusuf Nurkić, who took up for Simmons responding to the tweets. Simmons and Nurkić both happen to be clients of the popular sports agency Klutch Sports.

The Ringer author seems to have clearly crossed the line this time with his tweet as criticizing a player’s game is one thing but poking fun at someone is clearly out of line. O’Connor seemed to have adopted the herd mentality of hating on the 76ers point guard.
