"Kobe Bryant is probably the best 1-on-1 player in the game": Kevin Durant once chose The Mamba over 6ft 9' LeBron James

Both Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are two of the greatest basketball players of all time. The Lakers legends who both graced the hardwood for more than 20 years achieved a tremendous amount of success. But who would win a 1-on-1 between the two?

While James is still playing at 38 years of age Kobe retired from the game in 2016 around the same age as Bron, and four years later left us all once and for all in a helicopter crash, which also killed his daughter and 7 others.

However, we fans are always bringing up the late great whenever there’s a discussion about who would win a one-on-one contest between the two.

And Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, who also is as big a fan of the two stars as we are, once revealed who he’d back to win if the two stars ever went 1-on-1.

When Kevin Durant chose his side between LeBron James and Kobe Bryant

In one of  YouTube’s gold, an 11 years old interview Kevin Durant, Trevor Ariza, Matt Barnes, and John Wall answered a question about who would win a 1-on-1 contest between the Black Mamba and The King, most of them non-hesitantly had one answer – Kobe Bryant.

“That’s tough. If I had to pick somebody, I’d pick Kobe. His one-on-one skills, he’s probably the best one-on-one player in the game,” said Durant.

Only John Wall chose James while knowing he’ll be the only one to bet on the 6ft 9’ beast of nature, who hadn’t won one championship at the time this interview was taken.

Since then, James has won 4 championships and 4x Finals MVPs, but there are still numerous people who believe the Mamba was much better than James at his best.

Who would really win a 1-on-1 between the two GOAT candidates?

It is difficult to say who would win in a one-on-one matchup between LeBron James and Kobe Bryant as it ultimately depends on their physical condition, the specific game, and the rules of the matchup. Both players are incredibly skilled and have different strengths and weaknesses.

LeBron, a small forward, is famous for his size and strength, which allows him to overpower opponents and finish at the rim with force. He is also a skilled passer and playmaker, able to create scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Bryant on the other hand is a 6ft 6′ guard popular for his scoring ability and killer instinct. He is one of the greatest shooters in the history of the game and has a wide variety of moves to create his own shot.

Both players have achieved a great deal of success throughout their careers and it would be a highly competitive matchup. It would be a great game to watch, and sadly we’d never know who would win it. Although if you would have asked Kobe, he’d say he wins it in his sleep.
