“Kyrie Irving is partying with Drake”: Nets star’s absence for ‘personal reasons’ explained as he’s rumored to be celebrating sister’s 30th birthday in Toronto
Kyrie Irving is no stranger to controversy so these reports should not come as a surprise. Kyrie has missed the last three games with the Nets due to unexplained personal reasons and he is likely to miss more.
The video that was leaked on Instagram shows Kyrie at a large party with Drake and his younger sister. Many speculate that this party happened recently as a few members were wearing masks.
Videos have surfaced of Kyrie Irving at a large birthday gathering alongside his sister, Asia.
Kyrie’s sister & dad have birthdays this week.
Given the size of the gathering & now public nature of it, Kyrie might now have to undergo a quarantine period before returning. https://t.co/McrYtFH9XK pic.twitter.com/U4T1KAvMTl

Though the occasion of the party is unknown, it is likely a celebration of his sister’s birthday which happened earlier this week. His absence has left many questioning his interest in the game. Nets head coach Steve Nash has borne the brunt of Kyrie’s actions. Additionally, this has contributed to the narrative that Nash is not ready to coach yet.
What are the other probable reasons that Kyrie Irving sitting out?
Many speculate that Kyrie is sitting out due to the recent insurgency at the US Capitol. Kyrie has been vocal about white privilege and police brutality. Therefore, it is likely that he wanted to take a break from the madness. Last season, Kyrie had urged his teammates to take up social justice initiaves rather than travel to the NBA bubble.
Another issue that the internet has pointed out is the fact that Kyrie has broken the NBA’s COVID-19 protocol. Even if Kyrie is ready to return soon he would have to undertake a mandatory two-week quarantine before returning to the Nets. This could have disastrous implications for the Nets team in the near future.
Whatever the reason may be, he does have an obligation to keep his team informed. His recent actions have affected the image of his team and their coach. We hope that he will be able to return soon and healthy.
