Perhaps one of the best examples of a ‘high risk, high reward’ prospect the NBA has seen in a while would be the youngest Ball brother, LaMelo Ball.
Due to his short stints in various leagues across the world, it was difficult to properly assess the entirety of his skillset. Sure, it was clear that he was a gifted passer with a great handle, but everything else was still up in the air.
However, after nearly 40 games down the hatchet for this 2020-21 NBA season, it’s safe to say that LaMelo Ball can grow into the potential franchise-altering superstar a small market team like the Charlotte Hornets need.
All doubts that were persistent with his game have been cleared, whether it was his shooting ability, his shot selection, and his ability get aggressive when need be.
Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless discuss LaMelo Ball and his stellar rookie season
Both Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless seem to be quite enamored by the Hornets rookie. They took to Undisputed to talk about the Charlotte Hornets as a whole and how Michael Jordan’s offseason moves panned out.
“To be 19 and play with this kind of passion, it’s unbelievable to watch. Mike (Michael Jordan) finally got one right. Out of all the draft picks, this might be Mike’s best one yet.”

The duo then delved into listing out the various atrocious picks Jordan had made as an owner, such as Frank Kaminsky, Kwame Brown, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
LaMelo Ball is currently averaging 15.8 points, 6 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. He holds a vice-like grip over the number one spot on the Rookie of the Year leaderboard.
