LeBron James may already be 38 years old, but he has been beyond impressive so far in the playoffs. He may not be the almost god-like high-volume scorer he once used to be. However, his elite playmaking has ensured he is still one of the best in the NBA. With that said, it is obvious that every move he makes on and off the court will continue to have the most straining of spotlights on them. And recently, the man decided to make one more of these decisions that has attracted so much of the fans’ attention. So, without further ado, let’s answer what sneakers is he wearing in game 6 against the Memphis Grizzlies, and why they were chosen over the beloved LeBron XX’s.

LeBron James is wearing the Nike Zoom LeBron 2s
LeBron James is a man with a long NBA career and is currently playing his 20th NBA season. Given how great he was from the get-go, of course, he has quite a few sneakers as well. And that’s just in his main line with Nike. When you stop to consider additional ones like the ‘Witness’ line, along with the ‘Soldier’, ‘Ambassador’, and the ‘Nxxt generation’ line, things only get crazier.
However, we’re only focusing on the man’s title line of sneakers here. More specifically, the second generation of it, in the Zoom LeBron 2s. Initially released in 2004, this shoe was released to mixed reviews. However, they have recently gained a cult following, which served as a little prologue to LeBron James rocking them on his feet in game 6 against the Grizzlies, as you can see in Nick DePaula’s tweet below.

However, even with all that being said, fan reception alone wouldn’t be enough for LeBron James to put on these cult classic sneakers during a potential closeout game. So, why is he really wearing them?
The business side of things
After years and years of fans moaning about a lack of a retro model on the Zoon LeBron 2s, Nike and LeBron James have finally decided to bring it back, as per ‘Sole Collector’. However, while the original retail price was $125, they will be brought back with a new price tag of $210 per pair at retail.
The sneakers were re-released on October 25th, 2022. And so, it is believed that James simply wore the sneakers to boost the retro’s sales. And of course, to relive some nostalgia while doing it.
