Dwyane Wade was part of the iconic “Big Three” that the Miami Heat assembled in 2010, alongside LeBron James and Chris Bosh, winning two NBA Championships together. Appearing on Club Shay Shay years later, D-Wade spoke in depth about his time in Miami what Shannon Sharpe. One of the things he was asked about was the infamous “Not 1, Not 2…” speech that King James made. A speech Wade tried to justify, claiming the team did not take it as seriously as the media.

The King dripped this now iconic speech in 2010 after the “Big Three” or the “Heatles” were introduced to the Miami faithful. It was a speech that is still remembered and held against LeBron and co. to this day. After all, they fell short of the six to seven rings they had promised, only winning two during their time together. Nevertheless, they still remained one of the most dominant forces the NBA has ever seen.
Dwyane Wade justifies LeBron James’ infamous 2010 “Not 1, Not 2…” speech
In 2010, LeBron James entertained many with his infamous speech suggesting how many championships he and the Heatles would win. Years later, after failing to live up to that speech, Shannon Sharpe asked Dwyane Wade to comment on the same. To this, D-Wade revealed that nobody on the Miami Heat took it seriously.
Justifying King James’ actions, Wade likened LeBron’s speech to a conversation one would have with friends. In particular, any story shared always has to have a little bit of exaggeration or, as he called it, “sauce” to it. He believes that, in a similar way, Bron was just adding some “sauce” to his speech.
He further suggested that as per usual, the media took his words seriously. And since then have held it against them for never living up to these lofty expectations.
“I didn’t take it seriously. Anybody out there who took that serious, like, come on guys! We having a parade. We in there with our fans…we in there talking! Not one…Not..you know what I mean? We do what we do…we in the crib with our homies. You put a little sauce on your story. That’s what he did…he added a little sauce. And, then that sauce became, “Oh we going to hold them to it!”. That’s all!”
He went on to comment about how this has led to LeBron receiving unnecessary hate. Especially considering his decision to move to the Heat had already led to a lot of displeasure. Regardless, they got past all of it and still managed to establish a neat little legacy for themselves as one of the greatest trios of all time.
D-Wade sacrificed $17,000,000 in order to bring ‘the Heatles’ together
The trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh may have achieved legendary status, but it wasn’t easy. Prior to the formation of the Heatles, D-Wade who was the only member of the three on the Miami Heat at the time had an important decision to make. He had already won a championship and had cemented himself as a legend of the game.
However, he still wanted to win more, and for that, sacrifices were required. He would have to give up $17,000,000 on his contract in order to bring in LBJ and Bosh. And, as history shows, he did that without a second thought.
LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade were selected 1st, 4th and 5th in the 2003 NBA Draft. 10 years ago today that trio won the 2013 NBA title for the Heat in a Game 7 win!

After that, Flash went on to have an exceptional career and an even greater resume than before. Not only did he win two championships, but he continued to dominate alongside his new partners. So much so, that now, in 2023, he finds himself among other legends in the Hall of Fame.
