“LeBron James took it personally”: Lakers star reveals the motivation behind his 21-point 4th quarter in win against Cavaliers
LeBron James said he took it personally when he saw a Cavs front office member celebrate a miss by him in the 3rd quarter last night.
The Cavs presented a resolute challenge to the Lakers before going down 115-108. The game was close for all of the second half and neither team enjoyed a safe lead at any point. The Lakers were especially poor from the field, making only 10 of their 32 3-point attempts.
7 of those 10 makes were on LeBron’s name, who had a bullish shooting night. In the absence of any good wing defender on the Cavs, LeBron took full advantage to make 19 of his 26 shots. He had just 2 free throws on the night, as the Cavs were loath to foul him.
James’s monster outing took the limelight off AD’s terrible game. Davis only made 5 of his 16 shot attempts, having to head to the free throw line 7 times to get to 17 points.
LeBron James reveals how a Cavs front office member spurred him to greater heights
At the beginning of the 4th period, the Cavs raced out to an 8-point lead. This was on the back of a late 3rd quarter flourish, during which they managed to force a rare LeBron miss. A Cleveland front office member seemed to have celebrated this brick too hard according to James:
“He was a little bit too excited about seeing me miss.”
LeBron said a member of the Cavs front office celebrated his miss at the end of the third. He scored 21 in the fourth.

Legends like LeBron have the ability to raise their game to greater heights when they feel slighted. This was exactly what happened in the 4th. The Cavs continued to let JaVale McGee and Andre Drummond handle the ball copiously, resulting in them blowing the lead in a jiffy.
James ended up with 21 points in the final period, and the Lakers were relatively comfortable in the closing moments of their win.
