Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are starting to pick up a little bit this season. Sure, they still have problems with turnovers, and perhaps need another ball-handler alongside the Slovenian superstar. But having gotten their record up to .500, the team is finally heading in the right direction again. And a key part of that is their three-pointers.

Something that became increasingly apparent last season was the team’s reliance on the three-ball. And while they have been criticized for over-relying on it by many, when it does fall, the other team might as well consider themselves to be 10 feet under.
Such was the case in their recent game against the Knicks, where this team converted 39% on all of their long balls.
Now, that may be tough enough as it is. But apparently, the Mavericks wanted the Knicks to feel humiliated at their own house.
So, what they did to make sure that happened, was beyond great. It was historic.
Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks move up to being the second franchise on the list of highest three-pointers attempted
Many have called Luka Doncic the second coming of MVP James Harden. And frankly, at times it can be a bit hard to tell the difference.
Now, due to his lack of a championship, countless fans despise that comparison.
However, it is one that becomes a bit harder to refute, after a certain Redditor published some of his research.

The source goes straight to a StatMuse page, highlighting the games where a team shot the most amount of three-pointers in a single game.
Rather unsurprisingly the top 3 spots have been taken up by the James Harden-era Rockets, with 70, 68, and 63 shots from deep attempted.
And then, at the 4th spot, joint with several different Rocket games, and 1 Hawks game, are the Mavericks, with 61 shot attempts, of which they scored a whopping 24 3-pointers, good for a very efficient 39.3%.
It’s no wonder this game was a blowout victory for the Mavericks.
Does Luka Doncic need to change the way he plays?
Luka Doncic has been having an incredible season so far. But a question that has been raised by many is, does Luka Doncic need to play a bit selflessly?
Frankly, the response to that is quite simple. Absolutely he does, but only when there are at least two ball handlers alongside him that he can trust.
Without other players that can either efficiently generate their own offense or play make for others, giving the ball up is simply going to lead to an unproductive conclusion.
So, as things stand, no Luka Doncic absolutely shouldn’t change the way he plays.
