Magic Johnson Reveals 'Close Relationship' With Dwyane Wade, His Wife Gabrielle Union and His Mother in Emotional Tweet: "I Am So Proud"

It wasn’t surprising for fans to see Dwyane Wade in attendance for Game 3 of the NBA Finals as the action shifted to Miami from Denver. Unfortunately for the Miami Heat legend, he had to watch his side get dominated by the Nikola Jokic-led Denver Nuggets. It’d be safe to say that after the 2nd half started, Jimmy Butler’s side never looked like they had a chance to win the game. But as saddening as that may sound, at least Wade had Magic Johnson by his side to comfort him. In fact, as the Lakers legend revealed in a tweet, the two NBA vets even went on to talk about their mothers’ relationship. And it’s one that comes a bit out of left field.

NBA fans are well-aware of D-Wade and Earvin Magic Johnson’s friendship. The two have often acted as supporting pillars to each other in the past. For example, when Wade’s daughter Zaya came out to the world as transgender, everyone was incredibly proud of her, including her parents. However, there was also a bit of confusion as to the correct way to support her in her journey. And that’s where Magic stepped in with a helping hand.

Magic had gone through somewhat of a similar situation when his son EJ came out as gay back in 2013. Both men have communicated with each other on numerous occasions on how to support their children in the best way possible. So, needless to say, their friendship transcends the confines of the NBA. And apparently, their mothers, Jolinda Wade and Christine Johnson, are close friends as well.

Magic Johnson reveals familial connections with Heat legend Dwyane Wade

Johnson and Wade have known each other for years. But really, their families have brought them closer over the years.

Of course, their kids played a part. And from there, Wade’s wife, Hollywood star Gabrielle Union got acquainted with Magic and his wife Cookie Johnson pretty quickly too. And apparently, as the Lakers legend revealed in his recent tweet, their mothers are very close as well.

It’s nice to see the two NBA legends getting along with each other so well. But their connection doesn’t stop there.

D-Wade and Magic are part of an elite list together

Not long ago, the stereotype regarding NBA players was that they are unwise with their massive salaries and usually blow through them by the time they are done playing. However, in the last few years, there have been many who have turned this idea on its head. In fact, some of them have even gone on to own stakes in sports franchises.

Now, their names are in the same list as the great Shaquille O’Neal and Michael Jordan. Two such former NBA athletes who have done well in the business sector are Magic Johnson and Dwyane Wade. In fact, Wade owns a minority share in the Utah Jazz, which Magic has invested in multiple US sports franchises. And it’s an achievement they will likely be proud of for the rest of their lives.
