Paul is averaging 8.8 assists per game, and his career total stands at 10,004. Magic has 10,141 dimes to his name, which means that Paul is 138 dimes shy of moving up to no. 5 in career assists.
With nearly 40% of the season still left, Paul has the opportunity to overtake Magic Johnson this very year. At his current rate, CP3 can catch Magic in 16 games, leaving him enough room to widen the gap between his total and that of Magic.
