“Marcus Morris Sr is a hell of a defender”: Luka Doncic lauds Clippers forward despite his antics against the Mavericks star during the 2020 NBA Bubble Playoffs
Luka Doncic complimented Marcus Morris Sr for his play after the Clippers forward apologized for his unsportsmanlike fouls last year.
One of the biggest bones that NBA fans have had with Luka Doncic is his constant complaining. Among the rare occasions when this attitude was justified was last year in the NBA playoffs. Doncic had then been physically accosted by the forward several times in the series.
Things got to a boiling point when Morris slid his foot under Luka’s ankle, nearly causing an ankle sprain. The 22-year-old was beside himself with rage, and with good reason, in response to that play.
The Clippers eventually found karma for their actions, succumbing to a 3-1 comeback bid by the Nuggets. Marcus Morris Sr has re-signed with the team now, and he’s also found it prudent to apologize to Doncic for his actions.
“Marcus Morris is a hell of a defender”: Luka Doncic
Luka acknowledged Mook’s apology ahead of the teams’ playoff rematch this season. In his mind, it was fair play and Morris wasn’t actually looking to injure him:
“He’s a hell of a player, hell of a defender. Trash talk is always there, and if it’s not, you’re not really competing. It’s going to be great.”
Luka Doncic eagerly anticipates more heated competition with Marcus Morris Sr. in this series: “He’s a hell of a player, hell of a defender. Trash talk is always there, and if it’s not, you’re not really competing. It’s going to be great.” https://t.co/4FFg3fS1x6

Morris, meanwhile, is looking ahead to the series and hoping to get over this whole debacle. He says he’s way over the incident from the NBA Bubble in this new season:
“I have been around for a while; I know how this thing works. If it was anybody else, I don’t think it would be taken out of context that way. It is what it is.”
“I am a grown man; I stand on my own. Like I said, I didn’t mean to step on his ankle. They can say the stuff that they want to say, this and that, on Twitter, whatever.”
