Marcus Recalls Taking Advantage of Michael Jordan’s Biggest Fear to Prank Him Only to Get Grounded Later: “Running Around the House”
Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen’s ‘Separation Anxiety’ podcast has been a talking point in the NBA community for some time now due to its controversial nature. In the latest episode, titled ‘Spilling Family Secrets,‘ MJ’s younger son Marcus revealed how he and his brother Jeffrey once exploited his father’s phobia of snakes. Michael Jordan might have been unafraid of facing the fiercest NBA teams, such as the ‘Bad Boy Pistions’. However, snakes have always been a subject that Jordan has chosen to remain distant from.
Marcus and his brother did have their fair share of pranking their legendary father by exploiting his greatest fear. In the recent episode of Separation Anxiety, Marcus narrated an incident of him and Jeffrey keeping rubber snakes on the bed of Jordan’s master bedroom. As one might expect, due to the Bulls legend’s fear of snakes, the practical joke did not end well for his sons. Reminiscing about these childhood memories, Marcus narrated several other stories of him growing up as a star’s kid, with expectations of carrying his father’s legacy forward.
Marcus Jordan revealed pranking his father Michael Jordan by exploiting one of his greatest phobias
The latest episode of Separation Anxiety was all about Marcus reminiscing about his childhood growing up in the Jordan household. In conversation with his partner, and Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife, Larsa Pippen, Marcus revealed a hilarious prank he played on Michael Jordan alongside his brother. Here is what he said.
“There was this one time when my brother and I, we were young, probably 12 and 14. We got a bunch of rubber snakes, and we threw them in my dad’s room on the top of the bed in the master bedroom. And I’ll never forget, when he got home, we were grounded….He was running around the house trying to find out who pranked him. ”
A terrified MJ was caught off-guard and thought the snakes were real. When he realized his sons were behind the prank, the grounding was the step he took to teach them their lesson. Indeed, both Marcus and Jeffrey might have had to learn the hard way not to mess with their father, even if it was just a prank.
Besides snakes, Michael Jordan developed a phobia for water after a terrifying incident
Michael Jordan might seem like a man who knows no fear against adversaries. However, the great Bulls legend also has his dread for certain things, especially snakes and water. Jordan developed a fear of water and drowning after he witnessed a tragic incident that resulted in his friend’s death.

When Jordan was young, he went swimming with his friend at a nearby water body near his residence. While enjoying and riding the waves of water, MJ’s friend got pulled in by the water current and drowned to death. Though Jordan’s friend was holding on to him to save his life, MJ could not pull his friend through the ‘death lock.’ Since then, Jordan confessed he does not go near water anymore.
