Both Jordan and Kobe are considered two of the greatest players of all time. Obviously, Michael Jordan has the whole GOAT conversation built around him. Many people consider him to just be the greatest sporting legend of all time.
Now that didn’t mean that Kobe was any slouch at all. If there’s one player who ever approached Mike in terms of striking fear in their opponents’ hearts, it’s the Black Mamba.
Kobe copied Mike as he came up the ranks as a basketball player, so he was always looked at as the Michael Jordan of his generation given his footwork, skill levels and aesthetics.
There are Kobe aficionados who’ll still take the Black Mamba as their GOAT over anyone else. And they do have a really good basis for their argument. Anybody who watched him play in the noughties understands exactly what Kobe means to basketball.
A hilarious dinner table conversation between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan
Kobe Bryant was on the Jimmy Kimmel show several times through the course of his life. One of his best appearances on the show came about in January 2018.
Kimmel brought up Michael Jordan in conversation with the Mamba and talked about their brotherly relationship. He also talked about Jordan’s competitive spirit, which became apparent when he asked Kobe about what they competed at.
Kimmel: And what things does he try to compete with you at?
Kobe: I don’t know, I mean…last time we had dinner he was talking about ‘My year in 1991 vs your peak year, I would’ve kicked your a**’. I said ‘Mike, come on now, enjoy the salad. We both know that’s not gonna happen.
Kimmel: Ok, so at the end of the dinner, who picks up the bill?
Kobe: Well he does, he’s the big brother. Big brother always picks it up.
