Months After Showing Confidence in ‘No 1’ Carlos Alcaraz, Jimmy Butler Teases His 4426 Mile Journey to Wimbledon
Jimmy Butler closely follows other sports outside of basketball, and is a huge fan of sports in general. Being an enthusiast in certain select sports, like football and tennis, Butler has become close friends with the likes of Neymar Jr., Alexander Zverev, and other athletes from these sports. Recently, the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals MVP took to Instagram to cheer on tennis star Carlos Alcaraz. After the World No. 1 grabbed the Round of 16 win at Wimbledon, the Miami Heat superstar teased that he’d make the 4,426-mile journey from Miami to England to watch the Quarter Finals live.
Carlos Alcaraz is one of Jimmy’s favorite tennis players. Along side displaying his admiration for the likes of Zverev, Coco Gauff, and Serena Williams, the 6-foot-7 Forward has often displayed his confidence in the young Spaniard. During the Miami Open earlier this year, Butler had some lofty compliments for Alcaraz.
Almost 4 months later, the 2023 NBA Finalist has now expressed his desire to watch the 20-year-old’s upcoming Wimbledon QF battle live at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Jimmy Butler will be present at Carlos Alcaraz’s upcoming Quarter Finals clash
Jimmy Butler is a huge fan of tennis. Even during the NBA Finals, the Marquette alum was actively following the French Open. Now during the offseason, with all the free time available to him, Butler has naturally been watching some of his favorite stars play at Wimbledon.
After Carlos Alcaraz’s Round of 16 win against Matteo Berrettini, Jimmy posted a clip from the match. Stating that he’d be present to watch Carlos’ Quarter Finals clash, Butler captioned his story “I’ll be there Wednesday to see this in person @carlitosalcarazz”. Take a look at the screen recording of the six-time All-Star’s story on tragicpatek’s tweet.
Assuming that Jimmy begins his journey from Miami, he’ll have to travel 4,426 miles to London.

Carlos is playing some of the most dominant tennis of his young career. Four matches into the prestigious grass court tournament and the #1 seeded player has dropped merely two sets in total.
Alcaraz will next play Holger Rune as his Quarter Finals matchup. From what we’ve seen in their past battles, the Alcaraz-Rune contest is expected to be an action-packed and a possible five-set thriller.
Butler’s friend loses in the Third Round of Wimbledon
While Butler is a huge fan of Alcaraz, he has a special bond with Alexander Zverev as well. The duo have been good friends for several years now and have also been vocal about their friendship.
Unfortunately, the German couldn’t make a deep run at Wimbledon this time around. Still not 100% recovered from the ankle injury he sustained back in 2022, the #19 seed fell prey to Berrettini in the Third Round of the tournament.
Despite some of the best players still remaining in the draw, Carlos seems to be in good enough form to win his 2nd Grand Slam this time around.
