“Most people don’t know sh*t about basketball”: Warriors DPOY Draymond Green goes off on a rant about how players like him aren’t appreciated enough
Draymond Green talks about most people not fully understanding the game of basketball and not wanting to accept their lack of knowhow.
The Golden State Warriors have finally found themselves back in the win column, following their 22 point comeback victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. They now boast a 5-4 record. This is in large part due to Steph Curry finding his footing and leading the Dubs to their wins.
However, a severely underrated aspect of the Warriors’ success this season is Draymond Green returning to action. Though he isn’t filling up the stat sheet with triple-doubles, Green is making a sizeable impact.
Green has been lauded as one of the smartest players at his position, to ever play the game. It is this IQ and game sense that leads to Draymond making the right decisions when need be.
Draymond Green goes off on ‘basketball casuals’
Being the defensive savant that he is, his postgame interview comprises of questions detailing various aspects of defense. When asked about defensive fundamentals, Green delved down into a rant about people not understanding basketball. In regards to defense being appreciated just as much as highlight plays on offense, Draymond said,
“That would require people to know the game of basketball, and most people don’t. Most people will never learn the game of basketball. They think they do but have no clue. I enjoy being one of the not-so-many people that actually know the game and being in that rare category of people who really knows what’s going on.”
“In order to learn, you have to understand what you don’t know and most people don’t understand that they don’t know sh*t, so they’re just f**ked.”

Draymond seemed to be quite heated when it comes to this matter, which is understandable. Players like him do things that don’t appear on the stat sheet. Timely rotations, seamless switching and spirited shot contests are part and parcel of his playing style.
These are things that only a few will notice throughout the entirety of the game. These are winning plays, and the likes of Draymond and Marcus Smart are winning players.
