The Golden State Warriors are on a five-game win streak. Hosting the Atlanta Hawks tonight, the Warriors flew to an incredible start, with Klay Thompson scoring 14 early points. Klay led the Warriors with 54 points, and eight rebounds, shooting 10/21 from the deep.

It was a big win for the Warriors, but an even bigger success for the 5x All-Star, who recorded his first 50-point outburst after returning from two career-altering injuries. In Stephen Curry’s absence, all of these are helping the Warriors stay afloat and give them a fighting chance when their MVP returns.

What are some of the other 50-point performances by Klay?

In 2016, the Warriors were playing with Kevin Durant on the roster. There were worries that the others may have to sacrifice their shots, but none of that existed for Klay Thompson. Scoring 60 points in three quarters, that too on just eleven dribbles!

Klay shot 21 of 33 from the field and went 8 of 14 from the deep. After missing practice the previous day, it was Klay’s way of apologizing to the team and making up for his absence.

#3 52 against the Bulls

Klay Thompson had a very slow start to the 2018-19 season. Shooting way below his average, it seemed like Klay was not able to find his stroke. That was until the Warriors reached Chicago, and Klay wore his headband.

Taking on the Bulls, Klay erupted for an NBA record 14 triples, and scored 52 points. He shot 18 of 29 from the field and 14 of 24 from the deep on his way to break his teammate Stephen Curry’s record. His record for most triples in a game still stands to date.

#4 52 vs Kings

It was the magical 2015-16 season. The Warriors were 34-6 and hosted the Sacramento Kings at Oracle. Klay Thompson was feeling it that night, as he exploded for 52 points on 16 of 25 shooting, and 11 of 15 shooting from the deep.

In the third quarter, Klay went 13 of 13 from the field, and was perfect on his nine attempts from beyond the arc. He recorded a 37-point 3rd quarter, which is the NBA record to date for most points in a quarter.
