“Wasn’t going to allow Allen Iverson to fail”: When the Sixers legend’s high school coach threw him on top of a car upon learning about his lackluster approach to education

Allen Iverson loves being compared to Russell Westbrook. The Sixers legend praised the First Take crew for their debate on this, last morning.

Westbrook is a player whose fiery temperament has been compared to some legendary competitors from the past. One of the names always brought up in conjunction with him is that of one Allen Iverson.

The Sixers’ #3 came into the league as an athletic phenom, but he showed the heart and gumption of a champion. ‘The Answer’ inspired a whole generation of ballers with his crossover dribble, his jump shot and his energy.

Standing no taller than 5’10” or 5’11”, AI was a giant amongst men when it came to being a killer on the court. He’d go into an entirely different zone when his team would be struggling for offense and needed urgent buckets.

The Brody has cited AI and Kobe as players who’ve inspired him on the come-up. Westbrook’s ability to wear the funkiest clothes is something that Iverson paved the way for. So there are multiple dimensions to this comparison between two of the most fiery competitors ever.

Allen Iverson thanks Kendrick Perkins and Stephen A Smith for praising him

Perk had initially begun the argument on the segment by highlighting just how unique Russ is:

“With all due respect to Allen Iverson, we will never see another Russell Westbrook in our lifetime. So with that being said, I’m taking Westbrook’s career over AI’s.”

Both Stephen A and Max Kellerman picked Iverson, and they had their own arguments which were a lot more legitimate than their usual hot first takes. It was a good segment that you should definitely watch.

AI is one of those NBA legends who regularly watch First Take and appear as guests. He noted that he was watching the episode, and that he liked the way the debate went. Iverson shouted out the First Take crew for this segment while also shouting out Russ:

Watched the debate today on me and Russell Westbrook’s career, thanks for the compliment!!! Much love to the great Russell Westbrook!!! Killa’s respect killa’s”
