Shaquille O’Neal has almost always sported facial hair throughout his career. Whether it be in the form of a goatee, a moustache, or a fully fledged beard, the ‘Big Aristotle’ rarely ever steps out while being clean shaven. His time with the Boston Celtics did see him sport a ‘baby face’ however.

In his retirement, as he’s approached his 50s, Shaq has resorted to growing his beard out fully. There are times when he keeps a clean shaven face but that isn’t all too often. If we were to talk about his hair as a whole, then NBA fans are much too familiar with his hair on top and just how far back his hairline is.
Recently, ever since coming back from his hip surgery, O’Neal has been showing off every angle of his face as he’s clean shaven yet again. There is however, a perfectly sound reason for this.
Shaquille O’Neal on his mother forcing him to shave
Shaquille O’Neal took to his ‘Big Podcast’ after nearly a month to discuss the ongoings of the NBA with his co-hosts, Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams. Before they could get to that however, the two would question Shaq on why he was clean shaven.
“I’m producing a commercial. My directorial debut. My mother [Lucille O’Neal] and me back in the day. We used a bunch of little kids and they’re going to use technology to put my face on them. I did a commercial like that a long time ago and my mom was upset because it was a kid body but I had a beard,” said Shaq.
Seems as though O’Neal, the man nominated for 4 Emmys, is expanding his horizons when it comes to the entertainment industry. Towards the end of the explanation however, he would hilariously claim that he now has a ‘Rudy Gobert’ face on. It’s clear what he’s insinuating since Gobert does have a beard.
Shaquille O’Neal on Rudy Gobert
Shaquille O’Neal and Rudy Gobert have had quite the history with one another as of recent. Spice Adams, last year, claimed that the 3x DPOY would be able to hold him to about 12 points, to which Shaq replied, ‘In the first 3 minutes’.
Gobert then fired back by saying he would ‘lock his a** up’. Shaq then went off on him the following day on ‘Inside the NBA’. Fast forward to present day and the Lakers legend clowned on him yet again for his altercation with Kyle Anderson on the Timberwolves bench.
