The Phoenix Suns have done it again. Facing an elimination game in the 2nd round, the Suns once again gave up a 30-point lead at halftime. Even after the Suns brought Kevin Durant next to Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton, they could not manage to do well in the Playoffs. This has many people on the internet wondering whether it is time CP3 retires.

The Suns were dealt a big blow during Game 2 against the Nuggets. Not only did they go down 0-2 on the road, but also, Chris Paul suffered a groin injury. This injury kept him sidelined for the rest of the series, with hopes that he would return for Game 7, if it happens.
Even though the Suns leveled things at home, the Nuggets took Game 5 in Denver. They then brought their momentum back to Phoenix and wrapped up the series with a 125-100 win tonight.
Will Chris Paul retire?
Ever since CP3 made his move to Phoenix, he’s seen the heights of playoff success that he’d never accomplished before. However, the closest he came to winning a ring was in 2021, when the Suns went up 2-0 against the eventual champions, the Milwaukee Bucks.
Chris Paul is 38 now and has played 18 seasons in the NBA. During that time, he’s had one NBA Finals appearance and a rather discouraging playoff record. When the Suns added Kevin Durant mid-season, many thought this was the year CP3 won his first ring. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
Even though Chris Paul himself has given no official word about his retirement, fans are quick to jump the gun. They started talking about his retirement.

What is CP3’s contract situation?
Back in the summer of 2021, CP3 signed a 4-year, $120 Million deal with the Suns, right after leading them to the NBA Finals. Since then, the Suns have been eliminated in the 2nd round in back-to-back years.
With his contract running till the summer of 2025, I don’t think Chris Paul is done chasing the hopes of getting a championship. He’ll return next year, with Suns probably keeping the core of Booker, Durant, and Ayton intact.
