The Denver Nuggets’ NBA title victory parade on Thursday included an unfortunate incident. Nuggets centerpiece Nikola Jokic’s wife Natalija was hit by a beer can tossed by fans. The can was not hurled toward Natalija, who was standing with her son on the roof of a parade bus. It hit another team member on the bus first before it ricocheted and hit her face. The incident occurred just moments before Nikola Jokic used profanities in a speech, claiming that he wants to stay for the victory parade.

The title celebrations went wild for the entire team. The Denver Nuggets have won their first championship in 47 years of franchise history. After spearheading his team throughout the playoffs, Jokic found himself in the middle of a weird situation with his wife.
Nikola Jokic confirms he wants to stay for the parade despite his wife getting hit by a beer can
In the past few days, after winning the desired Larry O’Brien trophy, Nikola Jokic seemed reluctant to join the victory parade. In fact, he sighed heavily and looked very disappointed when told about the upcoming parade, giving fans the impression that he wants to rush to his home country of Serbia, like every year, instead of celebrating the victory with fans in Denver. However, it seems like the Nuggets superstar has changed his mind since then.
Jokic’s speech confirmed that he was having the time of his life. The two-time MVP said that it was the best day of his entire life. While the celebrations were expected to get as wild as they did, Jokic’s energy matched the atmosphere:
“You know that I told that I don’t want to stay for the parade. But I f—— want to stay and parade. This is the best day of my f—— life. This is amazing.”

As if the Serbian superstar using profanities to express his excitement wasn’t enough, things only got wilder from there on. Just before Jokic gave the speech, his wife was hit by a beer can chucked by fans. Jokic obviously checked on his wife and daughter Ognjena, before addressing the crowd with his NSFW speech.
Nikola Jokic initially did not want to stay for Denver Nuggets’ victory parade
The past few days have been a rollercoaster ride for Nikola Jokic. When he found out about the victory parade, Jokic seemed upset about canceling his travel plans.
The Serbian muttered an emphatic “no” before burying his face in his palm. He then claimed that he “needed to go home,” leading to fits of laughter from those in attendance.

"uhhhh you know I (said) that I didn't want to stay (for the) Parade… but I fucking want to stay (for the) Parade… this is the best day of… my fucking life… this is amazing…..

Despite his reluctance to stay for the celebrations, Jokic was the obvious messiah for the Nuggets right from the start of the season. His consistency and all-around performance gave the Nuggets an outlined advantage that made it all the more easier to churn out victories. Apart from winning his first-ever ring, Nikola Jokic was also selected as the MVP of the 2023 NBA Finals.
