"No Basketball at home!": Bucks' MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo shares how he manages to stay locked in during the Playoffs

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo reveals his strict policy at home and how it helps him perform better in the Playoffs

To have consistently deep playoff runs is not an easy thing in the NBA. That takes a toll on your health, both physical and mental. The grueling nature of the NBA season is the reason most of the teams find it hard to repeat their championship. Only a handful of teams have managed to accomplish the same, and out of those few, only three modern-day teams have managed to notch a 3-peat.

Each player has their own way to deal with the same stress. Some take up hobbies, some spend more time with family. To deal with the stress of basketball at both home and the workplace, Giannis Antetokounmpo has a very simple formula.

“My home has no basketball talk”: Giannis Antetokounmpo

The 2x back-to-back NBA MVP has figured out what works best for him. For Giannis to be 100% whenever he goes to play, he conserves all his basketball energy for the court or the gym. Once Giannis Antetokounmpo makes his way back home, there is no more basketball talk.

Giannis says he leaves his phone in his room, with the notifications off. He then proceeds to spend time with his son, or catch up on the shows he watches. At home, Giannis does not care about anything happening to the rest of the league. All he cares about is improving himself and his game, and getting some rest in.

This method of separating work and life has worked exceptionally for other professions, and by the looks of it, it has been working for Giannis too. Even though his team hasn’t found collective success yet, he has a bunch of personal accolades to his name. The Bucks have to make their way to Brooklyn for a tiresome second-round series against Kevin Durant and his Brooklyn Nets. The first game of the series is on Saturday.
