"No, I didn’t test positive" Lakers star Dennis Schroder's confusing post game interview creates doubts over his availability in postseason

Dennis Schroder has been a very important member of this Lakers side, but his attitude towards the vaccine is creating doubts over his availability.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been shorthanded for the majority of this season. Mainly due to persistent injuries to their two stars- Lebron James and Anthony Davis. However in their absence, it was last season 6th Man of the Year, Dennis Schroder who led the charge keeping the Lakers in contention for the play-offs.

However even the German missed a few games in February due to contact tracing that is a part of the NBA’s health and safety protocols. The Menace criticised the league’s protocols claiming that they “have to do better” while adding that “we don’t want it to happen again.”

Dennis earlier made some controversial remarks in an interview with a German publication. There he opened up about not taking the vaccine. “Nearly the whole team is vaccinated – only LeBron and I are not, I think,” said the point guard. “I can’t go into quarantine again, if that happens now, I‘ll miss a whole round in the playoffs. I can’t live with that.”

However, fortune had different things in store for Schroder as he missed the last seven matches following the NBA’s health and safety protocol. Frank Vogel’s men have managed to secure results in his absence and are now aiming for that 6th seed.

Schroder returned to the floor after over a week and was put straight into the starting five. He had a decent game dropping 14 points inspiring the Lakers to a 122-116 win over the Pacers.

Dennis Schroder’s post game interview was as confusing as it gets

Apart from the Lakers’ win what became a talking point for everyone was Schroder’s post-game interview. The German began saying that he is happy to be back and is looking forward to the postseason. However, he also added that he can’t get it anymore.

That part of the interview gets confusing when the reporter asked him about testing positive for COVID-19. To which he said, “No, I didn’t test positive. I went to separate things to get tested, but I mean, it is what it is, like I said. I’m the only guy who didn’t get vaccinated, so I’m gonna just leave it at that.”

While the reporter went on asking for clarification as the whole issue was very confusing. Dennis started getting frustrated and replied, “Next question. Maybe, then, fuck, what you want me to say? Next question. Simple. God damn.”

The point guard then went on saying that he was fine and so was his family. He also highlighted that he had no issues on his return from quarantine.

The whole fiasco is as confusing as it gets but one thing is for sure that Schroder’s availability is a big concern for the Lakers. The German point guard has snubbed taking the vaccine which puts him and his team at risk.
