Along with fame and work came money. Over the course of his career, Shaq earned about $292 Million from his NBA contracts. Sure, there were times O’Neal blew the money or made impulsive purchases. However, he’s also been smart with his money and amassed over $400 Million net worth.
O’Neal has a vast portfolio, with investments in many different companies. He also owns many businesses, including food outlets and a car wash. Well, his car wash has attributed him to having an epic story.

Shaquille O’Neal kept $250,000 in quarters in his room
Running a car wash is not an easy business. Shaq lost nearly a quarter of a million dollars from his car wash businesses because he was irresponsible with it. Talking about his weird facts on The Big Podcast, Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams were once playing a Google Me game with Shaquille O’Neal.
O’Neal talked about how he had a degree in filmmaking and once directed an episode that won an Emmy. Turner then asked him about how he kept $250,000 in his room in quarters.
Shaq answered how he ran a Car Wash, and the payments came in quarters or dimes. Once a week, on Thursdays, he’d go with his cop buddies, carry the change in a bag and keep it in his bedroom.
It’s an insane feat to carry $250,000 in quarters. I’m sure his cop buddies would have helped, but still. The big man’s stories never cease to amaze.
Shaq sold his $19.5 Million mansion for $11 Million
In 2020, Forbes reported that Shaquille O’Neal was listing his 171,000 sq. ft mansion for $19.5 Million. Located on side of Lake Butler, this property interested many people, including the late Michael Jackson.
However, due to it’s steep asking price during the Pandemic, it took over a year for O’Neal to sell it. The property was finally sold for $11 Million, $8.5 Million less than what the Big Diesel wanted.
