Patrick Mahomes has earned a lot of comparisons to sporting greats. Blazers superstar Damian Lillard added Steph Curry to this eminent list.

Mahomes has been in the ascendancy over the past 3 seasons. Ever since being elevated to the starting quarterback role for the Chiefs, the 25-year-old has been nothing but dominant. In his first full season as a starter (2018), Mahomes was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, as well as Offensive Player of the Year.
He set up a Conference Finals showdown with the GOAT Tom Brady that year. But the Chiefs were beaten by eventual champions New England in overtime that day. Mahomes would get over this with his first Super Bowl trophy the following season – he was named Super Bowl MVP too.
The Chiefs went on a dominant 16-1 run this regular season, receiving a bye to the Divisional round. They’ve now booked their berth in a second straight Super Bowl. Mahomes lines up against Brady for the second time in his playoff career, but on Brady’s grounds this time.
“Patrick Mahomes is the Steph Curry of the NFL”: Damian Lillard
Yesterday’s Conference Finals action had all of America tuned in for the spectacle. NBA players were no exception – after all, this was the first time all-time greats Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady would meet in the playoffs. Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers were sent packing by Tom Brady and his Buccaneers.
Mahomes did his part too, throwing for 3 touchdowns and 325 yards on the night. He got a passer rating of 127.5 for his performance, having completed 28 of his 35 passes. Now Lillard and McCollum have put their money on him – CJ even calls him the baby GOAT. Lillard on the other hand, said “Patrick Mahomes is the Steph Curry of the NFL.”
