The former Thunder and Pistons guard has been on one – to put it mildly – in these playoffs. He’s displaying his ability as a starting point guard in these playoffs better than he ever has. And he’s contributing uniquely to wins in an amazing fashion.
The Clippers guard has found another gear from Game 5 of their first round series against the Mavericks. Though the Mavs lost that game, Reggie shot himself into form after 4 subpar outings to begin the playoffs.
Reggie Jackon’s 2021 NBA playoff stats
The 6’3″ guard has been lighting it up from every single range for the Clippers this year. He was averaging 17.8 points per game on 48.7% field goal percentage, 40.6% from the 3-point line and 88.2% on free throws through the first 17 playoff games of the playoffs.
He was particularly effective in their 2nd round series against the Utah Jazz. Jackson’s fearless drives to the paint and repeated finishes over Rudy Gobert jumpstarted the Clippers’ offense significantly in Game 6. He finished that series averaging 18 points per game on 45.6% shooting on 3-pointers.
Reggie Jackson nicknames
Given how well the guard has performed in the playoffs thus far, Reggie is now a sensation on NBA Twitter. He’s been christened with a ton of cool and fun nicknames for his play this year.
Most of those have to do with the glasses that he’s been wearing during games. Jackson wears what seem to be Oakley M frames, and he’s been on a tear ever since he donned them.
Glasses Reggie Jackson, Action Jackson and Mr. June are probably the 3 top nicknames that he’s been given. And they do justice to his immense play in the playoffs thus far.
Clippers fans will be hoping that he keeps up his excellent play in their final 3 games. They’re going to need him to be at his absolute best to overcome a 3-1 deficit.
